A couple of friends and I are soundproofing a room in one of my friends house so we can use it for music rehearsals. I need to know if foam boards can be used to soundproof the room so that we can have some jam sessions without disturbing the rest of the house. Does anyone know? Will it work or is there another solution?

my father foamed the walls,,,not sure of the sound reduction, but it made the room warmer,,,actually he used it for all the walls that are not inner ones
